Phil Robertson is both the creator of the successful duck calling business and the patriarch of the Robertson family. He was a football quarterback at Louisiana Tech and was even offered a spot on an NFL team. However, he turned it down due to the interference it would have with duck hunting season. In 1973, he founded his duck call company and garnered a lot of success, eventually leading to the reality televisions series.
As part of their southern outdoor lifestyle, all the men in the Robertson family sport long noticeable beards. Their facial hair is so famous that it has actually become a huge part of their duck-hunting brand. So much so that none of the men would even consider shaving. So, you can understand the shock when fans learned that Jase had decided to shave his entire beard off.

Phil and his wife Missy have four sons, Alan, Jase, Willie, and Jep, who all have their own families and are all involved in the family’s duck-hunting business. To accomplish their goals for the charity, they needed to raise money, which is why Jase chose to shave his beard off. His fundraising idea was not only good for the charity, but it was also beneficial for his wife. Missy had not seen Jase clean-shaven for seven years. Jase pledged that if one-hundred thousand dollars was raised in donations, he would have his signature beard cut off. But he was unsure if the public would reach the goal.
Although most of the Robertson men sport beards, Phil’s oldest son, Alan, did appear clean-shaven on the show. Jase had trimmed his beard several times before, in between seasons of the show, but always let it grow out just in time for filming. It had been seven years since he had gone completely beardless though.

He said, “There are two kinds of people without beards, children and women, I am neither.” While we know Jase was being lighthearted, he might not have been so lighthearted once his treasured possession was shaved off.

Jase was accustomed to wearing a bushy beard, which is very practical for duck hunters as it creates better outdoor camouflage.
